Measles

Measles is an infectious disease that affects both children and adults who have no immunity to it. This infection is one of the leading causes of child mortality in the world.

The virus spreads very quickly – it is transmitted through talking, coughing, sneezing or any close contact with an infected person. As soon as a person shows the first signs of the virus, they are already spreading the infection. The incubation period lasts from 7 to 17 days.

On the 4th-5th day after the first symptoms, the temperature rises again to 39-40 degrees, and a very noticeable rash of red spots appears on the skin. At this point the runny nose worsens, and the eyelids and the whole face swell.

Measles most often affects children and teenagers; however, if there was no vaccination, an adult can also become infected.
