Dentistry
A branch of medicine dealing with the teeth, the oral cavity and adjacent structures. It includes the diagnosis and treatment of their diseases and the restoration of lost or damaged tissues.
Doctors who practice dental treatment are called dentists. Other doctors and support staff include dental assistants, dental hygienists, dental technicians and dental therapists.
Diseases within the scope of dental treatment: enamel hypoplasia, fluorosis, wedge-shaped defect, dental erosion, necrosis of hard dental tissues, dental hyperesthesia, pathological tooth wear, dental trauma (acute and chronic);
Dentistry also deals with caries and its complications, diseases of the oral mucosa and periodontal diseases (gingivitis, periodontitis, periodontosis), and oral surgery is an important component.
